Getting Started as a Healthcare Worker

Welcome to OnLocum! This guide walks you through creating your account, getting verified, and finding your first shift.

Note

You'll need your professional license number and government-issued ID to complete verification.

What You'll Need

Before you begin, make sure you have:

  • A valid email address and phone number
  • Your professional license or registration number
  • A government-issued ID (National ID or Passport)
  • Any relevant certificates (CPR, specialized training, etc.)
  • A clear profile photo

Step 1: Download the App

OnLocum is available on Android devices. Download the app to get started:

  1. Open the Google Play Store on your Android device
  2. Search for "OnLocum Worker" or "OnLocum Provider"
  3. Tap Install to download the app
  4. Once installed, open the app

Tip

You can also use the web platform at app.onlocum.com if you prefer.

Step 2: Create Your Account

  1. Tap Sign Up or Get Started
  2. Enter your mobile phone number (we'll send an OTP to verify)
  3. Enter the verification code sent to your phone
  4. Create a secure password
  5. Fill in your basic details:
    • Full name (as it appears on your ID)
    • Email address
    • Date of birth

Step 3: Complete Your Profile

A complete profile helps facilities trust you and increases your chances of getting shifts.

Personal Information

  • Upload a clear, professional profile photo
  • Add your bio and professional summary
  • Specify your work preferences (full-time, part-time, weekends)

Work Location

  • Set your preferred work areas
  • Define your maximum travel distance
  • You can work in multiple locations across Kenya

Weekly Availability

  • Set your available days and times
  • Update this anytime as your schedule changes
  • Facilities will see when you're available

Step 4: Submit Your Documents

Warning

Document verification typically takes 24-48 hours. Make sure all documents are clear and legible.

Required documents include:

  1. Professional License - Your current nursing/medical license
  2. Government ID - National ID or Passport
  3. Proof of Address - Utility bill or bank statement (recent)
  4. Certificates - Any additional qualifications

How to Upload Documents

  1. Go to Profile > Documents
  2. Tap on the document type you want to upload
  3. Take a photo or choose from your gallery
  4. Ensure the document is clearly visible
  5. Tap Upload

Step 5: Select Your Services

Choose the types of healthcare services you're qualified to provide:

  • Nursing (General, Pediatric, Critical Care)
  • Medical Assistance
  • Caregiving
  • Home Healthcare
  • Specialized Services

Note

You can only select services that match your verified qualifications.

Step 6: Wait for Verification

Our team will review your documents and verify your credentials. This process typically takes:

  • Standard verification: 24-48 hours
  • Complex cases: Up to 5 business days

You'll receive a notification and email once verified.

Step 7: Find Your First Shift

Once verified, you're ready to find shifts!

  1. Go to the Find Shifts tab
  2. Browse available opportunities in your area
  3. Filter by:
    • Date and time
    • Location
    • Shift type
    • Pay rate
  4. Tap on a shift to view details
  5. Tap Apply to express interest

Tip

Complete profiles with good ratings get matched faster. Keep your availability updated!
